CENTRE’S GRANT INFORMATION
The Mainstay Foundation’s grant for Mosques & Centres program shall provide grants to those organisations that meet our criteria of supporting initiatives to uplift and develop the Ithna Ashari Shia communities and help people strengthen their faith through the provision of Islamic centres, Mosques, or Hussainiyah. This grant awards organisations support in either acquiring a new centre or paying for renovation for an existing one. We will also consider paying for loans taken to fulfil the above two initiatives. We will try our best to support you with your application process. If at any point however you require further guidance, please contact us at: [email protected]
Applicants must provide supporting evidence to ensure that applicants are eligible for the grant.
Partnership Appraisal Group (PAG) members – comprised of staff and external stakeholders – will assess the application form to examine the criteria and the quality of the proposal.
2. DUE DILIGENCE
The proposal is submitted to the committee, which will assess the proposal and organisation against the themes and priorities. A final decision will be made on whether to continue with the application.
Upon approval by the Programme Appraisal Group/committee, we will require your organisation to complete the next step of the process for due diligence and compliance. If you are successful, we will contact you to ask for further information.
We will email your organisation to update you on the progress of your application if successful. As we receive a large number of applications, please bear in mind that your application may get turned down despite meeting the criteria. We consider all applications carefully and are unable to provide individual feedback on each application.
3. APPROVAL
Once successful, a grant deed outlining the terms and conditions of the grant will be provided. As part of the terms, you would need to commit to providing The Mainstay Foundation with communications and/or advocacy materials including photographs and video footage (where possible) and case studies of your beneficiaries in the form of a quarterly progress report. You would need to ensure that you have informed consent for these materials.
Once this has been finalised, the project may commence with regular feedback, monitoring visits, and interim reports and evaluation.
4. BUDGET AND FINANCE
The Financial accounts will need to be evaluated before funds are released to the organisation. The process from reporting to final payment may take up to one month. Organisations are required to keep and provide an auditable record of documentation in support of all transactions and purchases.
Receipts, invoices or payslips must be obtained to support every item of expenditure and if the purchase contains any charges for VAT, a suitable VAT receipt or invoice should be obtained. Quotations will not be accepted.
5. PROJECT IMPLEMENTAION AND REPORTING
Grant recipient will be expected to submit a final report post-completion, within three months of the end of the grant, detailing fully the results and outputs from the project.
The trustees also expect to receive copies of published articles, papers, or other outputs which may result from the project, including all media coverage.
If in any case the submission of the final report is delayed, grant recipients are expected to inform the Mainstay Foundation of any extenuating circumstances to allow a mutually acceptable date for submission to be agreed on.
